Every struggle has made me stronger. I take pride in being an SHG woman, a working professional, and a role model for other women who aspire to build their own identity.

---- Rajshree Farakte

Married at 17 in a state where she didn’t speak the language — now a marketing lead who bought her own plot of land.

01

The Starting Point

Passionate about dancing and education as a child, Rajshree was married at 17 before she could study further. She moved to Madhya Pradesh, where the language barrier left her isolated. Determined to contribute, she began selling bangles from home and joined a Self-Help Group — a decision that would change everything.

02

The climb

Through her SHG she became a tailor at the Ajeevika Garment Center, working there for four years and gaining financial independence. Then COVID-19 forced the centre to shut down. The next three years were filled with uncertainty and hardship.

03

the aCTUAL SITUATION

When a dal mill opened in Bamori, Rajshree applied for Marketing In-Charge — and taught herself to speak Hindi fluently to win the role. She conducts market surveys, and the retail insight she gained inspired her to help her husband open a thriving village grocery shop. From her earnings she bought a plot of land in her native village — a symbol of her self-reliance. Her next goal: saving for her children’s education.
